LEADERS IN TRAINING (LIT)

BE A LIT AT CAMP JAMISON!

REQUIREMENTS:

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Be on time
  • Follow directions
  • Conduct yourself in a safe and appropriate manner
  • Interact respectfully with campers and staff
  • Be enthusiastic
  • Be respectful and friendly
  • Set a good example

A LIT MUST HAVE:

  • Plenty of patience
  • A cooperative attitude
  • An open mind
  • Be flexible
  • Lots of energy
  • Love for Camp Jamison

At all times, the LIT is a camper, a program participant, and is expected to adhere to the guidelines of our camp program and camp leaders’ direction.

WEEKLY PLAN:

Placements: LITs will be given a placement for the week; the counselor that a LIT is assigned to will have jobs for the LIT to do for them and with them throughout the day. While it is important for LITs to participate in all activities, remember that our number one goal is for campers to enjoy themselves! As a LIT the primary responsibility is to help the counselor.

Evening Meeting: This meeting will occur daily and will be held by the LIT Director. They will review the progress of the day and set goals for the following day.

LIT Character Development/Activity: Together, LITs will plan and implement one activity for the campers. CITs will have a leadership role during this time. They will be responsible for explaining the activity and helping counselors and campers to participate and have fun!

Off campus trip: LITs participate in one-off campgrounds trip that will build confidence and increase team-building skills.

Evaluation: At the end of the week the LIT Director will evaluate all LITIs on their performance and they will possibly be invited to be a Junior Counselor or a LIT again the following summer.
